Edmonds School District's Unified Soccer team competed in inaugural tournament | Sports & Recreation
Title (Max 100 Charaters)
The Special Olympics and the Edmonds School District celebrated a big win on November 19th and 20th. For the first time, the ESD unified soccer team played in the Unified Soccer Tournament in Tukwila at the Starfire Soccer Complex...where the Seattle Sounders practice!
The Edmonds School District team has players from both Special Olympics Program and students with non-intellectual disabilities. The Special Olympic kids attend Lynnwood High School, Edmonds-Woodway High School, and the Voice program for 18-21 year old students that provides pre-vocational training. The other students attend Mountlake Terrace High School, Meadowdale High School, and Edmonds-Woodway High School. All of these students come from different schools to form a competitive team.
This team brought home the Silver Medal!
One player on the team, Dominick, is the son of Edmonds Council Member, Adrienne Fraley-Monillas. She told Edmonds KOMO today, "I was amazed at how all these young people work so well together and help each other play."
Teams came to this invitational from Washington, Arizona, Utah, Oregon, Idaho, and California.
The Edmonds School District team players, coached by Megan Drobnicki are:
Partners:
- Michael Truax

- Taylor Arbuckle
- Grayson Christopher
- Emily Drew
- Brittany Kinsala
- Morgan Arnell
Special Olympic Athletes:
