The Edmonds Mural Society starts first piece for 2011 today along the side of Housewares | Arts & Culture
Title (Max 100 Charaters)
The Edmonds Mural Society has been hard at work on their "off season" also known as a planning season. The first mural has begun today. According to Jeff Stilwell, Municipal Liaison for the Edmonds Mural Society, "Work began this morning on the Edmonds Mural Society's first mural of the summer."
The mural, Flying Heron, designed by Edmonds muralist Sue Coccia will be painted by fine arts students from Meadowdale High School. Coccia will direct the students in the mixing of colors and painting of the mural. The mural is located alongside Housewares on Fourth Avenue in downtown Edmonds.
Coccia's mural is the first of five planned murals to be mounted this summer by the Edmonds Mural Society. "The dream continues," society municipal liaison Jeff Stilwell said. "Our first summer, we mounted the first mural. Last summer we continued that project by mounting five more. This summer, we will add to that collection."
These murals really add some fun and beauty to Edmonds. The murals are in easy to spot or sometimes difficult to point out spots. They're a fun surprise when you look up and see one.
