This will not be your normal reunion

Submitted by Ray Marcham on Saturday, February 27th, 03:59pm

If you are looking for some fun tonight, how about heading over to the Phoenix Theatre for a reunion.

Reunion is the name of {breakout} Improv's show Saturday night at the Phoenix.  You'll be invited to show up, slap on a nametag on and become a part of, well, it's improv, so anything can happen.  The actors don't even know what will happen tonight!

The show begins at 8 p.m., but you'll want to show up early to get your tag and get acquainted with the set-up.

The Phoenix Theatre is located in Firdale Village at 9673 Firdale Avenue.  Head on over and see what they (and likely you) come up with!

Edmonds Man Wins Big in Seattle Radio Contest

Submitted by AJ Roberts on Tuesday, November 10th, 12:16pm

Dan Rogers, 38, of Edmonds, won the grand prize in a several months long contest for Seattle radio station KNDD FM.

Dan (of Dan’s Barbershop in Edmonds) entered the contest on somewhat of a whim, but when he became a finalist, he went for it full-throttle.

There were 3 different challenges in the contest that started in August: a blog challenge, a “show your logo” challenge, and a grand finale concert challenge.

At the grand finale on Saturday, Dan was awarded a comically over-sized check for $5,000 on stage at Snoqualmie Casino in front of a crowd of about 500 people.

An emotional Dan thanked all those that supported him, especially his wife.

Dan will get a real, normal-sized check later in the mail.

Two Local Men are Finalists in Big Radio Contest

Submitted by AJ Roberts on Saturday, November 7th, 02:10am

Two local men are finalists in a big radio contest.  A.J. Roberts and Dan Rogers, both of Edmonds, entered to be the biggest “Endfluencer” for 107.7 FM.  The contest included 3 challenges; a blog challenge, a “show your logo” challenge, and a grand finale concert challenge.  After the first two challenges, both men find themselves in the top 3 spots.  The challenge ends tonight, at the grand finale concert at Snoqualmie Casino.

Ironically, neither man knew the other lived in Edmonds, till A.J.

Fans Beg Former Korean Boy Band Member To Return

Submitted by Travis Mayfield on Monday, September 28th, 03:23pm

Over the past few days you may have seen an airplane circling the area with a huge sign in tow that reads "J.  What Time is It Now?"

It turns out what's behind that sign includes an international boy band, a MySpace post, and legions of heartbroken fans focused squarely on Edmonds.

Think of them as the Korean equivalent to Jonas Brothers:  they're called 2PM and these guys have every teen, tween and pre-tweet in South Korea entranced.

Jay Park is one of the most popular members, but he's also Korean American and told KBS World Radio in June he auditioned for the group in the US where he grew up.

"I used to break, like b-boy and I used to rap.  So my mom said go audition for this thing," Park told the radio interviewers.

Park made the cut and for months was one of the most popular members of one of the most popular boy bands in southeast Asia.
